How to travel with only Carry-On luggage!

Are you tired of lugging around a heavy suitcase while traveling? Do you want to pack light and avoid the hassle of checking in luggage at the airport? As crazy as it sounds, if you’re planning a trip overseas, packing only carry-on luggage can be a great way to save time and money. Here are some tips to help you pack efficiently and travel light:

Tip 1: Choose the Right Luggage

Investing in a high-quality, hard-shell, lightweight carry-on suitcase is essential for a successful carry-on only trip. Look for a suitcase with a size that complies with the airline’s carry-on requirements, and that has enough compartments and pockets to keep your items organised. I have a hard case Delsey suitcase similar to the Binalong 55cm Trolley Case or you may choose to opt for a super light option like this Adventure Backpack from Kmart which opens up like a suitcase and only weighs 1kg!

Tip 2: Use packing cells to organise your items

Packing cubes or compression bags are a great way to keep your luggage organised, wrinkle free and maximise space. Use packing cells to separate your clothes into categories such as tops, bottoms, and underwear. This makes it easier to find what you need without unpacking your entire suitcase. I have recently purchased the 6pce Travel Luggage Organiser for Carry-on suitcase from Bagsmart Australia

Tip 3: Create your Carry-On Only (COO) Capsule

Have you heard of the term COO Capsule? A Carry-On Only capsule is basically a small collection of clothes that can be put together in different ways and include everything one would normally need to wear. The aim is to plan your outfits based on the activities you have planned on your trip. Take photos of you wearing the outfits and save them in a folder on your phone. And remember, every clothing item and pair of shoes must have multiple uses! Keep an eye out on our socials over the coming weeks and watch as I share with you my very own COO capsule!

Tip 4: Limit your shoes

Shoes can take up a lot of space in your luggage, so limit yourself to a maximum of 3 pairs. Choose shoes that are versatile and can be worn with different outfits. For example, pack a pair of comfortable trainers for walking, a pair of slides for the beach or pool, and a pair of heels for a night out. Shoes can be stored in those little bags we get with bed linen and never know what to do with!

Tip 5: Buy toiletries at your destination

To save space in your luggage, buy toiletries at your destination. Most hotels & AirBnb’s provide basic toiletries such as shampoo and soap, so you don’t need to bring these items with you. If you need something specific, you can buy it at a local pharmacy or supermarket. Travel minis are also another great option like the range from Go-To Skincare

Tip 6: Wear your heaviest clothing on the flight

Wear your heaviest clothing items and shoes on the flight to save space in your luggage. Once you’re on the plane, you can take off the layers if you get too warm!

Traveling with a carry-on only has many benefits, such as saving time and money, reducing the risk of lost luggage, and being more mobile and flexible during your trip. By following these tips and packing only the essentials, you’ll be able to travel overseas with only carry-on luggage.

This can save you time and money at the airport, and make your travels more enjoyable and stress-free. Different airlines may have specific regulations regarding dimensions and weight limits, so it’s essential to check with your airline before traveling.

Overall, the COO (Carry-On Only) travel strategy can be a practical and efficient way to streamline your travel experience.

Happy packing!
